Patricia Exman was raised and educated in upstate NY and for the last ten years she has been an advocate for children in need of special education services. She consults with parents and groups who need assistance getting the resources they need for their children to be successful in school. She received her bachelor’s degree in Business Education from the State University of New York at Albany and is constantly updating her knowledge of specific disabilities and the laws regarding differently-abled students. She is a mom and trained teacher with intimate knowledge of how public school beauracracies work. She acts as the liason between the parents, school and various outside professionals that are involved in assessing the children’s needs and carving out an appropriate educational situation for each unique child
Patricia has given workshops to a variety of parent, teacher and community groups as well as been a guest lecturer in graduate classes on such topics as the Fundamentals of IDEA and how to be a team member in the development of an IEP. She brings a wealth of knowledge, personal experience and passion to her talks.
